ePipe

DAVROM CONSULTING has specialised knowledge in the configuration and implementation of the ePipe range and our two main product offerings are the ePipe 2202 and the ePipe 2242.

The ePipe provides a simple to install, configure and manage Internet gateway for any business connecting to the Internet via dialup modem(s) and/or the "popularity growing" cable/ADSL technology.

ePipes can be used as Internet gateways or as network gateways between offices. Remote offices can use ePipe to connect to the main office over a dedicated dialup (leased) line, a normal dialup phone line or a modem/cable connection through the Internet. A major advantage of the ePipe is that it fully supports secure VPN tunneling which is a method of connecting two or more offices togehter through the Internet, over a secure tunnel. We recommend that you use cable/ADSL links for VPN tunnelling instead of 56K dialup modems for performance reasons. Dialup or ISDN links can be used for automatic redundancy/failover if service difficulties are encountered with the cable/ADSL service.

The ePipe is configured and managed through a web browser and allows you to map specific ports to access specific server locations within your network such as port 80 being mapped to your Internet/Intranet web server, or port 25 mapped to your Internet/Internal e-mail server.

ePipe offers all the Internet inter-connectivity features of a PC gateway, but housed within a simple, single unit. There are no operating system issues, hardware configurations, patches and so on; it simply and securely passes your network traffic to/from the Internet.

2242

In its simplest form it is a gateway with attached dialup serial modems (ePipe 2242) that dial into your ISP and you use the same login name and password assigned by your ISP for your current Windows/UNIX PPP dialup connection. The ePipe 2242 comes with one nice advantage - you can attach up to four modems to access your ISP to help distribute your bandwidth load and in most cases you don't need to tell your ISP anything.

The ePipe 2242 has a distinct feature in that it is cable/ADSL ready and you can use both the cable/ADSL and modem connections together or use the modems as a fail-over option should the cable/ADSL link go down.

You can also configure standard serial devices such as dumb terminals or printers on the serial ports - you may requie the additional DCS package not included - if needed.
